Le peintre et photographe am\u00e9ricain Chuck Close, figure de l’hyperr\u00e9alisme connu pour ses portraits g\u00e9ants, est mort jeudi \u00e0 l’\u00e2ge de 81 ans, ont annonc\u00e9 les m\u00e9dias am\u00e9ricains.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

N\u00e9 en 1940 \u00e0 Monroe, dans l’Etat du Washington, Chuck Close \u00e9tait connu pour ses portraits ou autoportraits gigantesques, pour certains en mosa\u00efques, pour d’autres tellement d\u00e9taill\u00e9s qu’ils ressemblaient, \u00e0 l’oeil nu, \u00e0 des photographies.Parmi ses sujets, il avait repr\u00e9sent\u00e9 le pr\u00e9sident am\u00e9ricain Bill Clinton, le compositeur Philip Glass, la l\u00e9gende du rock Lou Reed, ou l’artiste Cindy Sherman.Paralys\u00e9 par une attaque en 1988, il ne se d\u00e9pla\u00e7ait plus qu’en fauteuil roulant mais continuait \u00e0 peindre. Expos\u00e9 dans les plus grands mus\u00e9es, comme le MoMA ou le Guggenheim \u00e0 New-York, ses oeuvres ont aussi orn\u00e9 le m\u00e9tro new-yorkais.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Mais la fin de sa vie avait \u00e9t\u00e9 ternie par des accusations de harc\u00e8lement sexuel. Dans des d\u00e9clarations \u00e0 des m\u00e9dias am\u00e9ricains fin 2017, plusieurs femmes avaient affirm\u00e9 que l’artiste leur avait demand\u00e9 de se d\u00e9shabiller et leur avait fait des commentaires explicites lorsqu’elles avaient visit\u00e9 son atelier.Chuck Close avait ni\u00e9 ces all\u00e9gations, mais la National Gallery of Art de Washington avait renonc\u00e9 \u00e0 lui consacrer une exposition d\u00e9but 2018.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
