Pr\u00e9sent\u00e9 mardi \u00e0 la Cin\u00e9math\u00e8que d&rsquo;Oran dans le cadre de la comp\u00e9tition officielle des documentaires, \u00ab \u00c9cran colonial \u00bb du r\u00e9alisateur Salim Aggar s&rsquo;impose comme une enqu\u00eate m\u00e9thodique et rigoureuse sur l&rsquo;une des armes les plus insidieuses du syst\u00e8me colonial fran\u00e7ais : la propagande audiovisuelle organis\u00e9e et syst\u00e9matis\u00e9e. Ce film de 70 minutes interroge un pan m\u00e9connu de l&rsquo;histoire alg\u00e9rienne, celui du service cin\u00e9matographique des arm\u00e9es fran\u00e7aises et de ses campagnes massives de d\u00e9sinformation destin\u00e9es \u00e0 atteindre les villages alg\u00e9riens et \u00e0 falsifier la r\u00e9alit\u00e9 de la colonisation. Le projet ambitieux de Salim Aggar s&rsquo;appuie sur une recherche archivistique minutieuse qui a exig\u00e9 trois ann\u00e9es de travail intensif. Une ann\u00e9e a \u00e9t\u00e9 consacr\u00e9e \u00e0 l&rsquo;exploration des archives fran\u00e7aises, tandis que deux ann\u00e9es suppl\u00e9mentaires ont permis au r\u00e9alisateur de d\u00e9velopper un langage cin\u00e9matographique capable de restituer les enjeux de cette propagande d&rsquo;\u00c9tat. D\u00e9couvrant des rapports conserv\u00e9s dans les fonds du service cin\u00e9matographique fran\u00e7ais, Aggar a constitu\u00e9 un dossier documentaire d&rsquo;une rare compl\u00e9tude. Lors du d\u00e9bat qui a suivi la projection, le cin\u00e9aste a d\u00e9taill\u00e9 son approche m\u00e9thodique : \u00ab La r\u00e9alisation du film a dur\u00e9 trois ans, dont une ann\u00e9e de recherche archivistique et deux ann\u00e9es de tournage, s&rsquo;appuyant notamment sur des archives de l&rsquo;arm\u00e9e fran\u00e7aise, qui menait \u00e0 l&rsquo;\u00e9poque des campagnes de d\u00e9sinformation visant \u00e0 falsifier la r\u00e9alit\u00e9. \u00bb Pour appuyer son analyse, Salim Aggar a mobilis\u00e9 les travaux de chercheurs reconnus dont les recherches \u00e9clairent cette machinerie propagandiste coloniale. Le chercheur fran\u00e7ais Denis S\u00e9bastien et l&rsquo;historien canadien Vincent Bouchard, tous deux auteurs d&rsquo;ouvrages de r\u00e9f\u00e9rence sur la propagande coloniale en Afrique et en Alg\u00e9rie, constituent les piliers intellectuels du projet. \u00ab Ces chercheurs ont d\u00e9montr\u00e9 que la France coloniale recourait \u00e0 des publications et des films truqu\u00e9s, notamment dans les domaines de la sant\u00e9, de l&rsquo;\u00e9ducation et de l&rsquo;enseignement, afin de pr\u00e9senter une image d\u00e9form\u00e9e de la r\u00e9alit\u00e9 alg\u00e9rienne \u00bb, explique Aggar en exposant les conclusions de leurs travaux respectifs. Cette strat\u00e9gie de mystification s&rsquo;inscrivait dans une logique globale d&rsquo;occupation : contr\u00f4ler non seulement les corps et les territoires, mais aussi les esprits par la manipulation des repr\u00e9sentations du r\u00e9el.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Le documentaire \u00ab \u00c9cran colonial \u00bb b\u00e9n\u00e9ficie de la participation d&rsquo;une \u00e9quipe de cin\u00e9ma reconnue. Produit par \u00ab MS News \u00bb, le film a mobilis\u00e9 les comp\u00e9tences du critique et \u00e9crivain de cin\u00e9ma Ahmed Bedjaoui et du r\u00e9alisateur Sa\u00efd Ould Khalifa, dont l&rsquo;implication garantit une qualit\u00e9 d&rsquo;ex\u00e9cution et une rigueur analytique. Cette collaboration t\u00e9moigne de l&rsquo;importance accord\u00e9e \u00e0 la transmission d&rsquo;un savoir-faire cin\u00e9matographique sur des sujets historiquement sensibles et politiquement significatifs. Le projet d\u00e9passe la simple reconstitution historique pour proposer une r\u00e9flexion plus large sur la mani\u00e8re dont le cin\u00e9ma peut servir \u00e0 la compr\u00e9hension critique du pass\u00e9 colonial.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>La m\u00eame soir\u00e9e a \u00e9galement marqu\u00e9 la premi\u00e8re mondiale du documentaire palestinien \u00ab Gaza Grad \u00bb, r\u00e9alis\u00e9 par Sawsan Kaoud en 2025. Ce film raconte le destin d&rsquo;une famille russo-palestinienne qui a surv\u00e9cu aux bombardements de l&rsquo;enclave mais dont les blessures psychologiques demeurent \u00e0 jamais ouvertes. Le documentaire explore une dimension cruciale du conflit : les traumatismes qui persistent bien apr\u00e8s le cessation des violences, lorsque les survivants tentent de reconstruire leur existence en exil.
