Le caftan n&rsquo;est plus seulement un v\u00eatement de f\u00eate \u2014 il est d\u00e9sormais un patrimoine inscrit au patrimoine de l\u2019UNESCO.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>La date compte autant que l&rsquo;\u00e9v\u00e9nement. C&rsquo;est au soir du 24e jour du Ramadhan 2026, dans le grand salon de l&rsquo;h\u00f4tel El-Aurassi d&rsquo;Alger, que le minist\u00e8re de la Culture et des Arts a choisi de c\u00e9l\u00e9brer solennellement ce que l&rsquo;Unesco avait officialis\u00e9 en d\u00e9cembre dernier \u00e0 New Delhi : l&rsquo;inscription du caftan alg\u00e9rien au patrimoine culturel immat\u00e9riel de l&rsquo;humanit\u00e9. La deuxi\u00e8me \u00e9dition du festival \u00ab Fashion Traditional \u00bb, plac\u00e9e sous le parrainage de la ministre de la Culture et des Arts, Malika Bendouda, a r\u00e9uni samedi soir com\u00e9diens, artistes, diplomates et passionn\u00e9s de patrimoine autour d&rsquo;un d\u00e9fil\u00e9 qui n&rsquo;avait rien d&rsquo;une simple parade de mode. C&rsquo;\u00e9tait, dans la lumi\u00e8re des projecteurs et au son des m\u00e9lodies de Constantine, une d\u00e9claration d&rsquo;identit\u00e9.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Lors de la 20e session du Comit\u00e9 intergouvernemental de l&rsquo;Unesco r\u00e9uni dans la capitale indienne a int\u00e9gr\u00e9 en d\u00e9cembre dernier et explicitement le caftan, la gandoura, la melehfa, le quat et le lhaf au \u00ab costume f\u00e9minin festif du grand Est alg\u00e9rien \u00bb, bien que ces \u00e9l\u00e9ments soient inscrits depuis 2012 au patrimoine de l\u2019UNESCO, consacrant ainsi le savoir-faire ancestral des artisans de la r\u00e9gion et confirmant, aux yeux du monde, l&rsquo;ant\u00e9riorit\u00e9 de cet habit traditionnel. Une victoire symbolique et diplomatique que la soir\u00e9e d&rsquo;El-Aurassi est venue prolonger sur le terrain de la cr\u00e9ation vivante. Six femmes \u00e9taient au c\u0153ur de cette d\u00e9monstration. Les s\u0153urs Halima, Assia et Asma Djellabi, venues de Souk Ahras, Hiba Cheriet de Guelma, A\u00efcha Bennari d&rsquo;Annaba et Nibel Rezgui d&rsquo;Alger ont chacune pr\u00e9sent\u00e9 leur collection personnelle, orchestrant un voyage textile \u00e0 travers les provinces de l&rsquo;Est. De six \u00e0 huit mannequins par d\u00e9fil\u00e9 ont port\u00e9 leurs cr\u00e9ations, suscitant l&rsquo;admiration d&rsquo;une assistance conquise. \u00ab Elles ont bien m\u00e9rit\u00e9 d&rsquo;\u00eatre mises sous les projecteurs \u00bb, glissait une spectatrice \u00e0 l&rsquo;issue de la soir\u00e9e, r\u00e9sumant d&rsquo;une phrase le sentiment g\u00e9n\u00e9ral.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Car ce que ces couturi\u00e8res ont accompli d\u00e9passe la seule prouesse technique, aussi remarquable soit-elle. Elles ont donn\u00e9 \u00e0 voir la richesse et la diversit\u00e9 d&rsquo;un v\u00eatement que l&rsquo;on aurait tort de r\u00e9duire \u00e0 un mod\u00e8le unique. Le caftan constantinois \u2014 le <em>qatifa<\/em> \u2014, indissociable du rituel nuptial dans l&rsquo;Est alg\u00e9rien, tr\u00f4nait en majest\u00e9 avec son velours lourd et ses broderies denses en fil d&rsquo;or <em>mejboud<\/em>. Le caftan alg\u00e9rois, plus l\u00e9ger, d\u00e9clin\u00e9 en soie ou en velours de toutes couleurs, broderies plus fines et silhouette plus a\u00e9r\u00e9e, s&rsquo;attirait lui aussi les applaudissements. Entre les deux, les six stylistes ont ouvert un troisi\u00e8me chemin : le caftan r\u00e9invent\u00e9, aux coupes contemporaines mariant manches larges et ceintures travaill\u00e9es, aux techniques ancestrales pr\u00e9serv\u00e9es. Tradition et modernit\u00e9 n&rsquo;y apparaissaient pas comme deux forces antagonistes, mais comme les deux faces d&rsquo;un m\u00eame h\u00e9ritage en mouvement.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Les collections pr\u00e9sentaient aussi le caftan en dialogue avec d&rsquo;autres pi\u00e8ces du vestiaire alg\u00e9rien : karakou, chedda, djeba, serouel chelka, robes r\u00e9gionales\u2026 Autant de rappels que le patrimoine vestimentaire alg\u00e9rien forme un ensemble coh\u00e9rent et pluriel, dont chaque pi\u00e8ce dialogue avec les autres. La pr\u00e9sence de repr\u00e9sentants de plusieurs missions diplomatiques accr\u00e9dit\u00e9es \u00e0 Alger donnait \u00e0 cette d\u00e9monstration une r\u00e9sonance internationale que l&rsquo;inscription \u00e0 l&rsquo;Unesco avait pr\u00e9par\u00e9e.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>La musique a fait le reste. La voix de Yasmine Belkacem et les cadences envo\u00fbtantes de deux troupes de Constantine \u2014 \u00ab Behdjet K&rsquo;sentina \u00bb (Aissaoua), dirig\u00e9e par Boudra\u00e2 Temmam, et \u00ab El Safwane Dar Bernou \u00bb, sous la direction de Mustapha Sofa \u2014 ont tiss\u00e9 autour des d\u00e9fil\u00e9s un \u00e9crin sonore qui transformait la soir\u00e9e en c\u00e9r\u00e9monie. \u00c0 l&rsquo;heure o\u00f9 le fil d&rsquo;or croisait les m\u00e9lodies mill\u00e9naires de la capitale de l&rsquo;Est, El-Aurassi n&rsquo;\u00e9tait plus seulement un h\u00f4tel de luxe au-dessus d&rsquo;Alger : c&rsquo;\u00e9tait une sc\u00e8ne o\u00f9 l&rsquo;Alg\u00e9rie prenait soin de se rappeler \u00e0 elle-m\u00eame ce qu&rsquo;elle est.
